Paradises of Gran Canaria: La Playa de Amadores
In the southwest of the island of Gran Canaria you will find a quiet beach created to rest under the sun, with calm waters and no waves as it is protected by two dikes.
Amadores, a beach to enjoy with the family.
Without a doubt, the beach of lovers in Gran Canaria is a beach where tranquillity abounds, an ideal beach to enjoy with the family as it is accessible to everyone.
Amadores beach is actually a large open-air swimming pool. It is a man-made beach, where its golden sand and crystal-clear waters invite you to sunbathe all day long. The location of Amadores beach among immense rocks favors to protect it from the wind.
For some Canarian residents, the white sand feels a little uncomfortable at first, as most of the natural beaches on the island are made up of fine sand that has formed due to erosion.
Is it a beach suitable for children?
Because the beach is artificial you can swim out to sea and go quite far in the water, thanks to the shape of the bay in which the beach is located. This is, of course, ideal for a family with small children as it provides a plus in the security of being able to have the little ones playing in the water without fear of being swept away by the current.
In addition, the beach also has a water paradise for the little ones. However, we must remain cautious, because we must remember that children are always vulnerable.
This beach will undoubtedly provide your family with the necessary rest if you are looking for tranquility, and if you have children you should not worry too much as they will be able to play in the sand and on the shore without problems. It is of special interest to remember that ball games and loud music are prohibited on this beach until 6 PM, smoking is prohibited throughout the beach.
Quality guaranteed
Amadores has been certified with the blue flag since 2004 for the quality of its services: hammock and parasol rental, free and paid parking and restaurants in a shopping center where you can eat in front of the sea. And for people with reduced mobility, there are amphibious chairs, walkways, buoys and nets to make bathing easier.
The beach offers services to spend the day without worries at reduced prices, where you can rent a beach chair or hammock (4 euros per day) and an umbrella (3 euros per day). There is also the possibility of sunbathing on a beautiful garden area.
With the arrival of the afternoon, with a little luck you will be able to enjoy from the same hammock watching the sun slowly set behind Spain’s largest volcano, Teide, on the neighbouring island of Tenerife.
Restoration
Amadores beach is connected to the tourist centre of Puerto Rico by a kilometre-long promenade that can be comfortably walked.
The restaurants, also located directly on the beach, offer visitors a wide range of restaurants where they can taste the gastronomy of the island.
Amadores beach also offers more luxury options on the beach, such as Amadores Beach Club. From the terrace of the Beach Club you will have a general view of the beach, an exclusive interior atmosphere makes it a meeting place for everyone.

The beach is well received by its visitors. Here are some experiences of some of them:
“It is a very quiet beach. The water is clean and the colors are spectacular. We’ve been in November and we’ve been able to take a bath. The sand that forms the beach are tiny pebbles that are even grateful because they don’t stick and when they dry out they are easily removed.” Luis Miguel P.
“We discovered this beach thanks to a very kind man (Jaime, a man who works in offering excursions) who saw us on the beach of Maspalomas and it was very windy. He told us to go to this one that would be out of air and hot. We remember the whole day of the Lord because thanks to him we had a great day” Sara Cabrera
