The beaches of Fuerteventura that you can’t miss

Fuerteventura is an ideal destination to be able to disconnect from the day to day of the city and enjoy a holiday with family or couple in the middle of a spectacular landscape.

  • Corralejo Beaches

Located in the north of the island, in the Natural Park of the Dunes of Corralejo,you will find some of the best beaches ofFuerteventura. It has an extension of  8 kilometers  and a fine golden sand. Its waters have an  emerald green that you will love and will encourage you to take a dip.

From here you can see the Islote de Lobos,a must if you are in the north of the island. In this part of the island, the wind is the protagonist, but if you want to shelter a little, go to the  beach of Moro.

  • Giniginamar Beach


It is to the south of the island, towards Gran Tarajal  from Puerto del Rosario, which is the capital of the island.

It is a windy beach, although its waters are very calm. It is black sand and measures a little more than half a kilometer, with a width of about 50 meters depending on how the tide is, which can rise a lot. Around there are some urbanizations and various services such as  restaurants  or shops.

  • Cofete Beach

Away from the resorts, located on the peninsula of Jandía and with difficult access, we find Cofete, one of the most beautiful beaches of Fuerteventura and one of those that will leave a mark on your memory.

This beach of 12 kilometers  is surrounded by mountains, which contrasts with its crystal clear waters and fine sand and what makes this place an incredible place to disconnect. In addition, due to its complicated access, it is not usually very frequent.

  • Gran Tarajal Beach

If you want a different beach to the rest of the beaches we find in Fuerteventura, this is yours. Located in the town of Tuineje we find in Gran Tarajal, a beach that departs from the golden sands to become dark sand,which can remind us of the typical volcanic black sand of other islands of the Canary Islands.

It is black sand and sloa  and is in the south, it is an urban beach that measures a little more than half a kilometer in length and is also quite windy although there is hardly any swell. It has a promenade where you can find several restaurants, bars or shops in which to enjoy the sunsets.

  • La Pared Beach

It is one of the beaches best known to surfers and lovers of beaches with little influx, since it is in a totally rustic environment and goes very few people, so you find a lot of tranquility. It measures 250 meters  and is fine and golden sand, also with a lot of wind and with strong swell.

  • Sotavento Beach

It is the most famous because it has a length of almost 6 kilometers  and its width reaches in some parts to be one kilometer. It’s really spectacular, there can be a lot of people but you don’t really have anyone several meters away, besides that in the landscape there are also several dunes and you feel immense freedom.

On this beach, the tides create large seawater lagoons  that delight the little ones, while the elderly enjoy  windsurfing and kitesurfing in the  open sea.

Although on this kilometer beach there is room for everyone. If you prefer a beach away from windsurfers, the southern area of this sandy area is very quiet, and you will have plenty of space to place your towel.

  • Butihondo Beach

Three kilometers long and located in Morro Jable we find this beach, which is paradise for those people who like to do nudism.

Butihondo has golden sands and very calm and transparent waters. Because it is divided into several sections, tranquility is what characterizes it the most. That is why it is ideal to disconnect from the city and the hustle and bustle.

  • Ajuy Beach

It is one of the beaches of Fuerteventura with a volcanic beauty that is difficult to forget. This beach has nothing to do with the image of paradisiacal beaches that we have in mind when we think of Fuerteventura. But this beach has a very unique and unique beauty, since the contrast of its crystal clear waters with the black sand creates shades that are difficult to forget.

This beauty is located next to the beautiful village of Ajuy. It consists of several colorful earth houses,  fishermen’s boats and a few restaurants with local gastronomy make this corner a perfect place to forget about the clock. The beach usually has a lot of swell but that doesn’t take away so you can take a good dip.

In addition, Ajuy has an added plus. There is a signposted path that borders the coast to the north to reach in a few minutes impressive volcanic caves  that you can explore lantern in hand. The caves of Ajuy and the cliffs that surround them belong to the oldest land fragments that emerged in the Canary archipelago.
